Tommy Hilfiger Returns to Plus Sizes
I heard the rumors, but I wanted to wait and see it with my own eyes. Well, it's true, kids... Tommy Hilfiger has returned to plus sizes. From what I have seen so far, it's less logo intensive than before, so that's a plus in my book. For instance, there is this Elongated Placket Polo Shirt which sports a more subdued tonal embroidered logo crest. Available in 6 colors in sizes 1X-3X for $45.50 USD.

Plus Size Scoop Neck Tees - Wardrobe basics
I don't know about you, but I can't dress for spring and summer without a whole mess of different colors and styles of t-shirts. They're so good for layering, as well as just cool and casual. They're great under a jacket or cardigan, but just as good alone with a pair of shorts. Scoop neck styles lend themselves particularly to dressing up with an eye catching necklace or lightweight scarf. Jjill Plus Sizes - Spring 2009 Part 2
To continue yesterday's perusal of the new Spring 2009 offerings in plus sizes at Jjill.com, I'd like to point out a few pieces that are really versatile wardrobe staples. The first is the Washed Linen Jacket shown above. Get it in the ivory/jute color if you want to be able to wear it in the early fall as well, or go for the mist or rosebud for a pop of spring color. Available in sizes 1X -4X.
Next, these Simpatico Stretch Flare-Leg Pants have a glorious drape and a chic flare silhouette. The grey is lovely for Spring because it grounds the airy pastel colors nicely. Also available in black, in sizes 14W - 28W.

I've always liked the way the clothes at Jjill capture the essence of serenity and comfort with their tranquil hues and clean lines. Their affinity for natural fibers adds vitality and texture, lending a grounded, earthy flair. Unfortunately, the plus sizes are available only online. I have seen plus size items at their outlet stores, so if you happen to live near one, you could go and get a feel for how the clothes work on your body. One of my favorite items from the 2009 spring collection is this linen blend

Spring '09 Plus Size Fashion - Caroline Rose at Neiman Marcus
In my quest for the latest in plus size fashion, I get really frustrated with the way that clothing companies do their marketing. Specifically, I HATE when the clothes aren't even shown on a 'plus size' model (that's another topic - don't even get me started, folks.) How in blue blazes am I supposed to tell what this piece of clothing is going to fit like on someone who has, oh, i don't know, actual flesh?? Please! If you're out there and paying any attention, designers, please know that there are women out there who want nice, fashionable clothing, who are willing to pay good money for it, who are not a size 0.
Okay, done ranting for now. Here's a pretty spring ensemble by Caroline Rose at Neiman Marcus. The crinkle jacquard shirt and shell are made in the USA of imported French material, and create a warm monochromatic effect when worn together. The white linen pants feature a straight leg cut and elastic waist. All available in sizes 1X - 3X.

Freya Millie Full Figure Bra - Bringing Pretty Back
It strikes this plus sized fashionista as ironic that full figure bras are usually available in ugly and uglier. Throughout history, the ample female form has been celebrated and revered. Not until recently has the hard, athletic body replaced the softer curvier physique as the standard of beauty. Such standards do not respect the individual and the natural variation of body types, all equally as valid as another. Don't swallow the message that you don't fit that standard, and therefore have to hide in matronly undergarments. It's not easy, but you can find some truly beautiful and supportive bras, like this
